I'm Fat...

So yesterday was a rough day. I had my "27 week" appointment and found out to my utter astonishment and disgust that I have gained 28 pounds since the beginning of my pregnancy (I have never owned a scale at home, so it's always a special little treat to be weighed & humiliated in front of all the CNA's. Love it.). 28 freakin pounds people!! Yeah the estimated range that I am "supposed" to gain is around 28-40 lbs total. So I am just a little concerned that I will have a GINORMOUS baby and let's face it who wants to shove that out? My doctor also told me that my uterus is measuring a bit large so I need to make sure I get tested for diabetes. Awesome. Let's just say Travis had to calm his frantic wife over the phone (he was at work no less) and tell me that I wasn't fat, just pregnant and that it is better to have a big baby then a too-small baby. He is a very rational person thank goodness for me (I'm a bit emotional ha). Anyway, I"m probably blowing this way out of proportion since I don't know anything yet and I'm still in the normal weight gain range. Just venting.........

On a completely unrelated note I registered at Target for my baby shower. I found this adorable lamp. I heart it.

You're totally on track for your weight. your doctor is an idiot. and FYI every preggy lady takes that diabetes test....where you drink the orange stuff and come in and get blood drawn and pee--EVERYONE. my tip...get it in the coldest place in the fridge and it'll be yummier. it tastes like orange crush. If it's any consolation, Simon's belly is 2 weeks ahead of the rest of him.

Becca. You sound like me and I'm grateful I'm not the only one struggling with this body "changing" experience. I swear my thighs and butt are outgrowing my stomach. Did you know that your body produces a hormone during pregnancy that literally softens muscles? Hence, the "softness."

If it helps, dont look at the scale. I don't. I just told my nurse to tell me if I'm not gaining enough or if I'm fat. She and I have a special relationship.

ALSO, Trevor relates everything to cows and he told me that heifers HAVE to gain fat before birth because their body uses those fat reserves to produce milk. So remember fat=milk and as soon as you start nursing, you will lose it all.

Love,
another fat future mom

I definately know how you feel you want to do something about it, but deep down you realize that you just can't because it's all for the wee little one inside! It's true that it does come off later. It's just a wierd thing to watch your body change so quickly! I bet you're super cute pregnant!

Don't worry about the weight gain. I gained a ton and it was just ok. I didn't even pig out either. I think your body is just going to do what it's going to do when you're pregnant. I took the diabetes test too and it was just standard. Oh the joys of being pregnant. HOpe you are feeling ok.
