Man-Crush Refueled...

So, (isn't that a captivating way to start a blog)... for Becca's graduation present I got her some crummy seats at the John Mayer concert. Little did she know that it was really a gift to myself which required me using her graduation as an excuse for me to go see Johnny. Seriously, this concert was pretty amazing. We started off the night with a little Fudruckers. Never a bad thing...

Dinner didn't take as long as anticipated, and we arrived in South Jordan waaay too early. We spent the next hour sitting on a couch in Pier 1 and strolling South Towne Mall. By the time we finished killing time we were late. Awesome. We got there at the end of the first act and I quickly directed us to the wrong seats. Awesome again. I thought it was funny that the first act (who I had never heard of and whose name I can't remember) said they weren't taking requests because they wanted to play songs that would best "set a mood." In reality I think he knew that no one would be able to request a song because we all had no idea who he was. Regardless, his music was chill and fun to listen to. Colbie Caillat was up next and was really good. Not the world's greatest entertainer, but the music was super chill and fun to listen to. See if you can find her.

Becca seems to think that I was drooling over Colbie, but really I was simply masking my immense man crush on John Mayer. Seriously, he was incredible. Not the best vocals of any artist out there, but GEEZ, he can play the guitar like I've never heard. He played a few old songs, some of his new stuff, a couple of covers and some blues that I haven't really heard much of. It was all amazing, but the blues stuff was by far the most impressive. Even from our seats 6 miles away, we could see some of the fret work when he'd really get going. It was seriously incredible! He was pretty entertaining as well and doesn't seem to have any lingering fears of performing, or speaking whatever is on his mind for that matter. After nearly every song he reminded us of how much he enjoyed playing the guitar and how amped he was on Red Bull. He also let us all know that he had tweaked his unmentionables after a particularly exhuberant guitar power jump. Two F-bombs and a couple of $3.50 bottles of water later, I was headed home with my wife, my mind still lingering on an old crush rediscovered. I love you John... Dynomite concert!

Oh, one more note on concerts in general... You know that one couple who never seems to realize that they are absolutely the only ones standing in the entire amphitheatre, swaying back and forth in their own little music land? Well, here is a picture of that couple and our view for 50% of the concert. If you happen to run into them at some future concert make sure you lob a few profanities at them from me... Don't hold back... Thanks, I owe you one...

Brent, you don't know what you're talking about...he's good, but there are certainly better...I've got a few missed notes on video if you need proof. Nice try...
