Hi there, so I'm redoing Bryant's room for his birthday and getting him a "boy big bed". Any recommendations on where to buy beds and cute bedding? Is it better to do a toddler bed or buy a twin? thoughts? ideas? Thanks peoples. :)
Ps. thanks for commenting on my last post. We are doing better around here today!

I guess it just depends on what you want. We put our girls into a toddler bed first because we had really small bedrooms in our old house and they are smaller. The toddler bed uses a crib mattress so he will outgrow it faster. That being said, our six year old foster daughter was still able to sleep in it comfortably. When we moved into our new house with bigger bedrooms, we moved the girls into bunk beds. The toddler bed is still in the baby's room so I guess he'll use it when he's out of the crib. My sisters have all just skipped the toddler beds and moved right to a twin. I think the advantage of the toddler is they are smaller and lower to the ground so it helps with transitioning to the bed at first but they'll out grow it. With the twin, they won't.
I wish you lived closer. Avy is Bryant's age and we could have a play date. We are very familiar with Asperberger's. My nephew Matthew (Stacie's oldest) has it. If you're ever at your mom's bring him by. We live in Hooper now.
We put Henry in a twin bed with rails. There's a few reasons: I didn't want to have to buy another bed in a year, plus I had heard a few moms say that the big bed with rails made their kids feel like they were still in a crib, so they would stay in the bed until their parents got them out. Henry figured out pretty quickly that he could get out on his own, but we talked to him about not getting out of his bed until we got him and that seemed to fix it. So I guess the biggest reason is so we don't have to buy another bed in a year.
You dont know me but I went to high school with Travis. I have always put my kids into toddler beds. Main reason being I have moved them out of the crib when they are 18 months old because of another baby and feel like they are too little at that age to go into a big bed.
We got the kids bed from Ikea. It is bigger than a toddler bed and has rails on both sides with an opening so they can get in and out. It's smaller than a twin bed and lower to the ground. They were pretty inexpensive too. I love it!
I recommend a truck theme. That would be perfect :)
We stuck Sydney straight into a twin bed. And she got the boot pretty early because Madi needed the crib. I love that she is in a twin bed. All we did is buy a railing thingy to make sure she didn't fall out. Good luck! And I like the idea of a truck theme! Super cute. I'm so immersed in pink princess stuff I might go crazy. We need a boy around here . . . Not any time soon though.
I vote twin. We had Ava in a toddler bed, but only because we got one for free from a neighbor. We finally just took the side off of the crib for Simon. I think at 3, Bryant should do fine in a "big" bed. Simon prefers Ava's bed and asks for it every night which leads to sibling WAR. Check KSL, because a lot of furniture stores put online ads that are better than in store specials. So, you can take in their online ad and save big $
Target and /or Ikea! As for which bed, if he isn't intimidated by the size of a twin go for it, but we had to baby step up with a toddler bed because Lucy is a peanut. :P
My sister in law went straight to a queen sized bed for her boy and he loves it! Haha. Now she doesn't ever have to buy him a new bed :)
We went straight to a twin with rails on one side. Because we're cheap! Just wanted you to know I saw you at Target yesterday...I had that day with my kids the day before (seriously, my son screamed all the way to, in, and from the store and carried on for another 45 minutes when we got home!). Hang in there!
We did a toddler bed with Hailey and a Full with Addy. :-) I'll explain later. Also, if you don't want to buy a rail for a bigger bed, it works really well to roll up a blanket and stick it along the edge of the mattress under the fitted sheet, make sense? I'll show you. that's what we did with Addy and it was magic.
we put dieter right into a twin bed. if you don't have a box spring, it's only a few inches off the ground. pottery barn~love there stuff... if you have an arm an a leg to spend... which i don't. :)
this is random, but can i have your email...
Started Treyson in a twin, but he HATED it. Got him a Toddler instead and he loves it. I think Either would work with most kids :)
